Abductor

One of the worst fears that all parents have in common is their child being kidnapped by an abductor. There are several reasons why a child would be kidnapped by an abductor.

In the past, one reason why a child would be kidnapped by an abductor was for money. Many times the abductor would leave a note demanding money for the safe return of the child; however, this form of kidnapping does not occur often in the United States because the Federal Bureau of Investigation takes kidnapping very seriously and the consequences are very severe.

A form of kidnapping that happens much more frequently is when a parent is the abductor and takes the child without the other parent's permission. This is form of kidnapping is most common among parents who have received a divorce and are in a bitter custody battle for the child or children.

There are also instances of kidnapping when the abductor will take the child with the intention of never returning the child. The abductor will instead keep the child and raise it as if it were their child. Many times these people will not be able to have a child of their own and think that it would be easier to take a child instead of going through the adoption process.

There are also other forms of abduction that do not involve children. Many times an abductor will take an adult to intentionally cause them harm. In most instances, it is more common for a woman to be the victim of abduction than a man.

There are some things that people can to do decrease the chances of being a victim of abduction. Parents should teach their children to avoid strangers and adults should always be aware of their surroundings and any suspicious looking individuals.
